10 things that a DU student can’t live without

The hustle and bustle of the millennial's crowd at DU is quite prominent. One can fell the energy and enthusiasm of youngsters in the campuses of Delhi University. Wherever your sight will go, you can see something happening. Be it events, fests, concerts, seminars or a flash mob, college life at Delhi University is full of vivacity, fun and Masti Yar! As much as bright and diverse environment is found at DU, similarly one can find a gamut of variety in this University’s crowd. Not to brag, but DU is famous for the galore of stars and celebrities flocking towards this campus for promotions and fests, there are certain traits or addictions that are found common in the majority of students of this campus. These are the certain things which a DU student just can’t live without.

     1.     Metros

Metros are the lifelines for DU students. A DU student just can’t imagine their without metros. They are a major means of transport system for DU students. Whether it is a trip with friends to South, West, East or North Delhi or a hunt of markets and cafes or a tour to historical places or last but not the least, making itself a cheaper and easier way for you to reach home, metros are the backbones for any of these plans and drills. So metros are a must cause Delhi Metro apki seva mai hazir hai.

     2.     Photostat shops

Exams! Notes! Xerox! These three words are just like synonyms for a DU student. One can see long trailing lines of students at the Xerox shops before exams to save their life or say semester exams, especially for those who hang around cool kids round the year and bunk classes like their ace business and then flock around the ‘Nerds’ before exams.

Cafes are like an integrated part of Delhi University. It’s often quite found a drill amongst DU students that those who are bunking their lectures can be found either in canteen and are on a ‘Café Hunt’. A humongous number of cafes can be found in or around Delhi University campus who offers a variety of cuisines and also many of them are pocket friendly. Most of these cafes have been mentioned in various lifestyle magazines and food magazines as they offer world class food at affordable prices. So if you have not been to any café yet, then believe you are missing a lot on tasty, lip smacking food. Go try them now!

1   4. Bunks

No student can be found in DU who hasn’t bunk a lecture in their entire college. If found, then they belong to a ‘rare species’ group who are not usually found in University. It is a known fact that lectures can be boring as hell and sitting in those lectures rooms and not to fall asleep is a tough task. So students often find bunking as an escape plan to save their lives and better spend their time enjoying. Bunks are like unavoidable.

There is no better time in the whole session of the year than the election season. One can find a whole mob singing and shouting slogans and vote appeals for their candidates. The volunteers supporting their team and party can do anything and as ready to reach to every nook and cranny of the college to not to leave any stone un-turned to ask for vote. Also freshers can experience the temporary V.I.P feeling as the volunteers and candidates will lure around them to ask for votes and to complain about the other parties. A lot of excitement and enthusiasm is seen in students and in campus during the election period.

Fashion! Vogue! Trendiness! Style! Swag!  These are certain traits that mark a DU student. One can find top trendy and latest fashion being warn and flaunt off on the streets and corridors of campuses and colleges like models. Several beauty pageants and contests are being hoisted in DU to let students show off the supermodel in them. Several clothing and fashion brands are often found here marketing their stuff as DU is the hotspot for youngster fashion. Hail to the students who are continuing the legacy of fashion of this campus.

You name the star or a singer or a band who hasn’t come to DU. None I guess! Fests season is that time of the session when several singers, pop stars and celebs come of this University and make the crowd go gaga over their songs and set a euphoric environment with maddening crowd in their concerts. Not only DU students, but also students from several other colleges and universities come to attend the fests hoisted by the DU colleges. Added fun games, events and food are the additional sbounties that come with the fests.

      Du colleges are not complete without their several societies. Society of every genre can be found in the colleges and all are well equipped to polish ones skills and talents. Whatever talent you possess, whether its creative art, debating, singing, dancing, content writing, event managing or any other soft skill that you may have, there is a society for you to join. They will not only enhance your skills, but will also offer you other bounties like an adventurous and fun college life with lot of friend for life been made there. A society member is often found to spend more time in the society than in the lectures. 

     9. Sleep

Yes! Sleep! The one of the most precious possessions of a DU student to just relax and to find a solace. DU students don’t want their sleep to be compromised at any cost, even if they have to miss a lecture. The scenario is that even if a DU student is in a coma for 2 years, he would still ask for 5 more minute sleep. Relatable? Yes?  

10. Music

College students with ear plugs in their ears and listening to their favorite singer’s or band’s songs is a common scene. DU students are a great of pop, rock and hip hop music. One can hear latest songs being played at high blaring volumes on cars, PGs and hostels.

Once you crack into this Premier institution by making through the sky high cut offs, you will be gifted with bounties and truck loads of memories to cherish later in your life.
